Stirring the Camera Pot…

And just to keep things interesting, here’s some clips on another camera the Canon EOS 5D Mark II around which there’s now a lot of talk. It costs less than three K, looks beautiful – we saw it projected at the Director’s Guild. There are definitely problems with blowing it up to 35mm, serious problems, but Canon is talking about trying to solve these problems and what’s been fascinating to see is that the video departments of Canon had no idea that the still camera departments had been developing what everyone is saying is a quite amazing video breakthrough. Lets see, if finally both departments talking to each other will bring us the best camera of all – cheap, with terrific images – not to mention that the Mark II is really small, which is an important issue with the older cameras, even the Red (with lenses, etc, very large). Try shooting in a small room with a couple of actors. The Mark II allows you to get right against the wall. So, for what it’s worth…
