A Breath…
Posted on 04 July 2010
July 4th. A day off from work. It’s been a packed stretch of time for me and I feel like I haven’t been here on my site enough (a site I love). I’ve been almost nowhere enough, except on the set where I’ve really gotten to play and do what I believe in most.
I’m grateful for the TV work I’ve had recently (and documented a bit here with videos) and paying my bills and getting to explore technique, etc, but there’s nothing like working on something you really believe in.
I really believe in GrassRoots and I find it coming to life with the crew, actors, the locations — Seattle — a real world being played with to make another real world on the screen. Magic. (Check out our slowly expanding Website: GrassrootsTheFilm.com)
And then it’s the 4th of July and I can’t help but come back to the ocean growing blacker, to BP defusing the truth (not the oil), to Wall Street having slipped through the fingers of the government. No regulations. No less money going to the people at the very top – bonuses – bonuses – bonuses. The Stock Market sliding now because no one took the painful steps earlier.
Grassroots.
Somehow it has a stronger and stronger ring for me. The guys at the top. (Pretty much guys – white, rational, struggling a bit with their weight, good at picking wine — these are the guys that have been running our show into the ground._So…
Grassroots.
The people.
Wasn’t that what July 4th was all about? 1776? People, of the people, by the people, etc?
Happy July Fourth…not just for the U.S., but for the world…Happy Independence Day…
some day…

version 1:
Independence is assumed that the U.S. was because of higher taxes and abuse (among other things), and his revolutionary ideas advocating equality and freedom. But the abolition of slavery was postponed for almost a century … etc … etc ..
In short, we are free to choose who we want to be in life, we are free in our decisions and actions, sometimes make mistakes but we got up and is part of maturity and growth, but sometimes our decisions give us those little great moments of happiness and satisfaction.
However, media are blind and deaf, because we all end up paying for our own freedom … so urra! hahaha I think we are part of a new form of slavery, but this slave is dressed in pretty colors … back taxes that are no longer only in tea, what we talk about freedom if … we are a people in slavery of consumerism, commerce, success of technology … it does not matter or race or color, just what you have and what you are in the eyes of society.
Question … what is independence?
What if it comes down the stock market ???…the people are going to $%@&”$%
And who complains? I believe that most, for something we vote for a president who will improve our quality of life as a people.
I think this is a widespread issue that somehow affects us all … and no matter the nationality, globalization unites us.
Happy Independence day … some day …
(I took a translator
. I hope the translation is as faithful to what I mean)
Nevertheless … I consider myself a happy person hahaha
Does taxes limit your freedom? If I remember correctly the idea behind the Boston Tea Party was that the tax didn’t benefit the citizens in the land where it was enforced, but that the money went over the ocean to the English king.
Aaa … it correct!! the tax, of equal form it is in benefit of the citizens … you have reason.
(There are still things I do not know EEUU history, so thanks for the clarification)
although it is assumed that each year there is a salary adjustment because of the tax increase, in certain professions do not see that, that is really about my country, I would like to the extent that increase taxes, increase salaries. (Or think I should have chosen a better profession?):s
though that was not my point nor what I meant … I apologize if I learned to express on the subject : D
Dropping by to say I love the Grassroots website and Sara’s posts on the blog have got this reader hooked
Her account of your plate-breaking ritual made me sit up and I posted a response which I think you’ll like
“I’ve been almost nowhere enough, except on the set where I’ve really gotten to play and do what I believe in most.”
Yes, you’re missing the site you love so much but then you’re spending your time doing what you truly believe in. Now isn’t that called independence? Happy Independence Day to you and yours – indeed, that “someday” could actually be right now!
